Inspired by the Beijing Olympics to become more active again? If so, you have an opportunity this Fall to have your own Gold Medal performance (and have fun too!) by running for the Rose City Runners in the United States Track & Field- New Jersey (USATF-NJ) Championship Series. In September, there are two Championship races for all ages and genders:
On September 13, there is an Open and Masters 5K Cross Country Championship race for both men and women in Holmdel Park in Holmdel, New Jersey. Applications for the race can be found at: http://usatfnj.org/ldr/2008_XC_Championships.pdf
On September 28, the Newport Liberty Half Marathon, an Open and Masters Championship race for both men and women, will be contested in Jersey City. Runners participating in this race should begin soon to gradually increase their weekly long runs so that they can comfortably finish the 13.1 mile distance. There is a group of us that already meet for longer runs on Saturday morning at Loantaka Park and all are welcome to join us. Applications for the race can be found at: Newport Liberty Half Marathon
We need as many of you as possible to participate in the events so we have full teams for the various age and gender divisions. Both September USATF-NJ Championship races are for Open (under 40 years of age) and Masters (40 years of age and older) men and women runners. While the races are competitive against the other running clubs in the state, our new team is more about having fun and providing running opportunities for our members. We, therefore, encourage people of various athletic abilities to join our new race team. See you at the races!
All the runs start at the Duck Pond entrance (Kitchell Road) of Loantaka Park in Morris Township and the final 8 miles correspond with the normal Saturday morning run sponsored by the Rose City Runners.
