Here it is September again – time for the “Lick and Stick Party” for the 24th Annual Giralda Farms Run. This is a fun party (all our parties are fun!) were we stuff envelopes with race applications to send to previous race participants (that’s right, via snail mail!) The race is on Sunday, November 9, and the “Lick and Stick Party” is on Thursday, September 25th at 7:30 P.M. This year we will NOT be meeting at the Madison Community House, since they are doing some renovations. We will be meeting at the Clubhouse of the Briarwood-Coachlight Square Condominiums at 235 River Road in Chatham Township (thanks to Cande Olsen). Pizza and soda will be served. If you are not already signed up as a volunteer for race day, please contact Elliott Koppel.
Once again Trish & Gary Pomeroy have invited Club Members and their friends to join them on a hike of the Appalachian Trail starting at their house on September 20th and October 18th. The hike will take about 3 hours consisting of steep and rolling hills followed by flat land and great views. The distance is about 5 miles. The hike ends at the Walpack Inn www.walpackinn.com where we will then have dinner. Gary & Trish will arrange beforehand to have cars parked at the restaurant to return us to their house after dinner. They want to get to the restaurant before 5:00pm. Therefore please plan on arriving at their house 11:30-12:00PM. This way we can relax for a little while before leaving for the hike at 1:00PM. They will need a head count of who is coming by September 16 so they can make the reservation at the restaurant.
Please e-mail the Pomeroy’s and/or Tom Gallagher to RSVP (by September 16 to finalize the dinner reservation) or if you have any questions. Please plan on bring a water bottle, comfortable shoes for hiking, (if desired a back pack with trail mix or other snacks), depending on the weather appropriate clothing.
The Hounds and Harriers Run is coming up on Saturday, October 11th. If your dog is in running shape it is a really fun race to run. But from experience I can tell you it is at least as much fun to help with the race! It is possible to do Saturday morning run and course marshal near the pond. If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact Barbara Rushman. FMI, www.HoundsAndHarriers.com.
